Buckland Lake Reserve
Friends of Buckland Lake

Management of the reserve is carried out by Buckland Lake Reserve Ltd with Tamsin Hilton as our new manager.

Exciting ideas abound for wildlife enjoyment, including great gardening possibilities, wildlife courses and activities. This is an almost blank 60+ acre canvas for creating the best gardened wildlife and people friendly reserve in the country.

GARDENING DAYS

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Join in on our gardening days. Have fun and keep fit at the same time - jobs for all abilities. We need help to get plants in and established before next spring.

Sunday 14th December Thursday 18th December Sunday 4th January Thursday 8th January Thursday 15th January Sunday 18th January

Thursday 22nd January Thursday 29th January Sunday 8th February

Gardening days run from 11.30am until 3.00pm but you can come for the whole day or just a few hours, we’re not fussy! Please bring warm clothes, lunch, drinks and any gardening tools you think may be useful for the day also.
We sometimes have to cancel so please phone me to see if the day is going ahead as planned (it also lets me know the right amount of cake to bring!’).
Please use the Salt Lane entry, down the slope and into the top car park.

Projects also include hide and footpath construction, the planting of banks, bird boxes, formation of artificial kingfisher nesting holes, plus our fantastic, world beating bottle island plans! All these and normal running of the reserve need to be carefully planned and carried out.

Anyone interested in joining working parties or able to help in other ways should contact Tamsin Hilton at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or phone 07816437946

WE ALSO NEED LOTS OF BIRD BOXES!

Donations

To carry out the work and make the lake fit for wildfowl in the future will cost money and take time. The project has so far been entirely privately funded and has taken a huge amount of money to get as far as this.
